Ok peeps, I need some advice. Best laid plans and all that crap....yada, yada...

SO I go to install my counter-tops last night that I had lovebug pick up. 1" butcher block from Southeastern Salvage, cost is right at about $11 per LF finished, and I thought would look good. Would also fit my cooking style, etc. Weeeeeeeeell, they are all warped, "cupped" if you will, so I will not use them. I am disheartened to say the least. I really want granite, but NO chance of that in the budget right now. This would have been a good, easily removable choice until I could get what I want.  So I need ideas, what have you used, heard of and cost please. I need 31 LF of counter....  HELP!!!

Take them back and make them replace them.

There are several sales being advertised on TV for granite and usually there is a coupon in Mint magazine.

As it turns out, I am doing some market research for a local granite company and you should check out Stone Lion.  Call Adam Claiborne at 251-223-6160 and tell him I sent you.

Others in the area that are reasonable are Cornerstone Granite 706-820-6377 and Chattanooga Granite and Marble 499-2892.

We used porcelain tile and if you can get past the labor it takes to install it, it is great.  No problem about putting hot stuff on it, and just slap down a cutting board anywhere and go to town.  There are lots of inexpensive tile choices at Southeastern Salvage or the home centers in town.  Good luck in finding something.

I wont go the tile route, install is not a problem, but I despise grout on a counter-top.
